I was very apprehensive about teaching the AP Computer Science Principles course because prior to the Mobile CSP professional development, I was completely self-taught in the field of computer science. My school wanted to begin teaching these courses, but I had no background. I agreed to teach the class with the condition that I get trained in some fashion and was thrilled to find out that I was accepted for the Mobile CSP training opportunity.
So far, the course is going very well. My students respond well to the consistency of the Mobile CSP course. Each day they come in, log on to the Student Branch, and are prepared for the lesson without prompting from me. I believe that this consistency and predictability is critical in teaching an Advanced Placement course. Students have enough content to learn and by not having to struggle navigating the curriculum, more time can be spent on the content.
