Mobile CSP Teachers Report Strong Engagement Among Students

The Mobile CSP project gathers lots of data from teachers and students.   Here are some snapshots of data received from 24 teachers who taught the course during the 2014-15 school year. The teachers were asked to respond to the following question:

To what extent do you think the following things have happened in your Mobile CSP course this year?

 and given the choices of:
  • Generally true
  • Somewhat true
  • Not very true
  • Not at all true

Mobile CS Principles on edX

Trinity College offered an edX course featuring part of the Mobile CSP curriculum.  The course, Mobile Computing with App Inventor - CS Principles, was a good first MOOC experience.

Mobile CSP @ ISTE 2015

Members of the Mobile CSP team (left-to-right Ralph, Jim, Pauline, Chinma, Chery, and Jen) traveled to Philadelphia on Sunday to  host a workshop at ISTE 2015 (International Society for Technology in Education)  on building socially useful apps in App Inventor.

Mobile CSP Students Share Mobile Apps at 2nd Annual Mobile CSP Expo

On Thursday, May 28nd, the 2nd Annual Mobile CSP Expo was held at Trinity College. Students who were enrolled in the Mobile CSP course during the 2014-2015 academic year were invited to demonstrate the apps they had created during the course. Approximately 70 students participated in the event.

Thank you to everyone who joined in last night. It was great seeing and hearing from everyone. We tested out a new tool called Zoom. Unfortunately, the free version of Zoom only lets you do 40 minute meetings, so about 3/4 of the way through we had to start a new meeting. Both parts were recorded. Mobile CSP Teachers Attend CS Ed Week Kick Off Event at the White House

100 Teachers Workshop

Of 100 teachers selected nationwide, Connecticut sent six to the NSF 100 Teachers Workshop. Several others were Mobile CSP teachers from Massachusetts.

2014 Teachers Give Final Presentations

The 2014 Cohort of Mobile CSP teachers (left) gave final presentations in McCook auditorium.

The six-week course was held at Trinity College from July 7 - August 15. Fourteen high schools from the following towns were represented at this year's course: Bloomfield, Hartford, West Hartford, East Hartford, Milford, Bridgeport, Manchester, Simsbury, and Westbrook.

Mobile CSP Workshop at CSTA

The Mobile CSP team (Chinma, Pauline, Jim Veseskis, and Ralph) traveled to Chicago to the 2014 CSTA Conference to present a 3-hour workshop on the Mobile CSP curriculum.
