Mobile CSP Students Win 1st Place!

Rep. Elizabeth Esty says, "We've got some great entrepreneurs out there!" as she announced the winners of her Congressional "Design Your Own App" Competition, also referred to as the House App Challenge. She announced the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners today.

1st place goes to...drum roll please... Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy students Kristopher Marques, Sean McCarthy, and Eliot Serrano for their app “Emergency Messenger.”  Emergency Messenger is an app to help keep teachers informed during a school emergency. The boys began working on the app in their Mobile CSP class, taught by one of our 2013 teachers, Mr. James Veseskis. Check out their YouTube video, which will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol!

You can read more and check out the 2nd and 3rd place apps designed by students from New Britain and Brookfield here:

On her Facebook page, Rep. Esty said, "Competitions like these are great ways to get our kids excited about computer programming. With jobs in computing expected to grow by 50% in the next few years, our kids need to have the skills to compete in the 21st century." We agree with Rep. Esty.

Well done boys! We are so proud of you!
