Mobile CSP Workshop @ SIGCSE 2014

The Mobile CSP project hosted a workshop at the 2014 SIGCSE Conference in Atlanta.  The workshop, Mobile Computer Science Principles: A Professional Development Sampler for Teachers, provided a hands-on look at the Mobile CSP curriculum, including App Inventor and CSP lessons, rubrics and assessment materials.  

CT-CSTA Delivers CS Petition to Education Commissioner

Led by Chinma Uche, President of the CT-Computer Science Teachers Association, representatives of CT-CSTA delivered a petition calling for teaching computer science in CT schools, to the CT Commissioner of Education, Stefan Pryor.  Mr. Pryor was not present to accept the petition, which was accepted by his Administrative Assistant.  Pictured at left in the Commissioner's office are CT-CSTA members, Ralph Morelli (Trinity College), Bradley Kjell (CCSU), Uche, and Pauline Lake (Trinity College).

15 Teachers Now Teaching Mobile CSP to Over 350 Students

Over the summer, the Mobile CSP Project trained 10 CT high school teachers during its 6-week professional development course, which was held in July at Trinity College. Some additional teachers signed on through word of mouth, and we now have 15 teachers in Connecticut and Massachusetts, teaching the course to over 300 students!

New York City Announces Professional Development for CS Teachers

New York City mayor, Michael Bloomberg and  Schools Chancellor Dennis Wolcott announced recently that 20 City schools will participate in a software engineering pilot program that in some respects resembles the MobileCSP project in Hartford. 

Summer 2013 Professional Development for Hartford Teachers

The Mobile CSP project is recruiting Hartford area teachers for its summer 2013 Professional Development course, which will be held at Trinity College from July 1 - August 9, 2013.  The 6-week course will provide comprehensive instruction in the Mobile Computer Science Principles (Mobile CSP), an innovative curriculum for introducing 11th and 12th grade students to the study of computer science.
