In the Digital Mix!

It was a very long and anticipated wait for Joseph A. Foran High School’s brand new App Design and 3D Animation & Gaming lab to be set up, but it is finally done!

My name is Aaron Czarnecki and am please to have been selected to write my view of Trinity's Mobile CSP (Computer Science Principles) course outline and teachings for the 2013-2014 School year at Foran High School here in Milford, CT.

Exposing Students to Programming

For the past couple months, the Mobile CSP team has been spending time collecting data from our students. After getting consent from parents/guardians, students were asked to complete a Start of Course survey that asked them about their backgrounds and Computer Science experience. As you can see from Figure A, more than half of the students currently taking the Mobile CSP course characterized their programming experience at the beginner level and more than 75% have little to no experience with programming.

15 Teachers Now Teaching Mobile CSP to Over 350 Students

Over the summer, the Mobile CSP Project trained 10 CT high school teachers during its 6-week professional development course, which was held in July at Trinity College. Some additional teachers signed on through word of mouth, and we now have 15 teachers in Connecticut and Massachusetts, teaching the course to over 300 students!
